The Olde Boston Bulldogge is the original "breed" from which the modern day
Boston Terrier was derived. In the 1800's, dog fanciers from the Boston Massachusettes, USA area wanted to create an all purpose
sporting dog that was also a family pet. Original "boston bulldogs" were crosses between bulldogs and terriers.
Some fanciers admired the "Boston bulldog" for sporting and bred for performance
ability, while others admired it for it's companion purposes, sizing the breed down and refining the looks to better suit
family life.
Eventually the "Boston bulldogs" and "Boston Terriers" became two distinct breeds.
The original dog, of greater size and more natural styling, is now known as the "Olde Boston Bulldogge".
